Adelaide Zoo

With more than 2500 hungry mouths to feed, we’re always looking for plant material for animal enrichment and to supplement animal diets.

Now, here’s where you come in… our keeping team are always looking for healthy donations of plants to help feed our hungry zoo family. Can you help?

How do I donate?

If you live in the Greater Adelaide Area, our team can come to you to cut ‘browse’ from your trees, or you can arrange to drop it to us here at the zoo!

Our horticulture team cut browse from the public or businesses which have trees that are suitable for nesting or supplementary dietary needs and require pruning, seasonal trimming or removal. The trimming and removal of branches for this purposes is provided free of charge but unfortunately we do not have the resources to do large tree removals but we will shape trees, leave the site in a tidy manner and stack cut logs.

What plant donations does Adelaide Zoo accept?

Our wild family enjoys a huge array of plants everyday!

Ideally, each donation should provide us with a ute-load of browse material (approximately 15 branches, two to three metres long). It’s also preferable for our staff to cut the browse material themselves to ensure it is the correct species and at its freshest upon delivery.

If you can help, please fill in the form below to outline what species you have available. As a conservation charity, we really appreciate your support.
