Kids go free to Adelaide Zoo this August
Gather your cubs and get your paws down to Adelaide Zoo – we have a GIANT gift for you!
Starting from tomorrow (1 August), kids go free for an entire 31 days as part of the Giant Pandas’ birthday celebrations.
The zoo’s favourite black-and-white bears both mark their birthdays over the next month, with Yi Lan turning five on 10 August and Xing Qiu turning six on 29 September.
What better way to party than to treat all children aged up to and including 14 with a wild day out on us.
“The Giant Pandas are an icon of South Australia, and they are certainly a species that should be celebrated,” said Chad Crittle, Director of Adelaide Zoo.
“Not only are pandas incredible animals, they are also a species that has had its conservation status improved in the wild from endangered to vulnerable, thanks to the work of conservationists across the globe.
“They are an incredible example of what we can achieve when we work together – and that is something worth celebrating.”
Mr Crittle said welcoming the community to Adelaide Zoo is also key to sparking a love of wildlife and a passion to protect it.
“At Zoos SA, our purpose is to save species from extinction but that comes from connection people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life with nature,” he said.
“Having the chance to see these incredible animals, learn more about them, and discover the wild within, helps plant the seed that grows into a love of conservation for generations to come.”
The month-long birthday celebrations will be topped off with the Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Sunday, 30 August.
A beloved annual tradition, the special event will feature keeper talks with plenty of fun enrichment for the Giant Panda pair, free face painting, craft activities and more.
