Saturday 29 July

The zoo is home to five critically-endangered Sumatran Tigers – Delilah, Kembali and their cubs Susu, Marni and Ketambe.

Set to leave a pawprint on your heart, pounce in for a roaring celebration that calls attention to this majestic species and the threats they face in the wild.

With less than 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild, we hope that these furry ambassadors will spark a passion to protect their critically-endangered wild cousins.

Free face painting

Tiger keeper talk

11am at Sumatran Tiger habitat

Head to the Immersion rainforest to catch a special keeper talk and learn all about the unique personalities of the zoo’s Sumatran Tiger family.

How do we support tigers?

Zoos SA supports Sumatran Tigers through Wildlife Asia, which operates a patrol team in the Sontang Village, West Sumatra. The patrol aims to protect the tiger population and works with locals to avoid human and tiger conflict. Members of the community are employed as forest rangers and help to document illegal activities and track tiger paths.

We are also working alongside wildlife organisations across Australia and New Zealand to drive the global transition to Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). Unsustainable palm oil is found in around half of all supermarket products and its cultivation sees approximately six football fields of rainforest cleared per minute.

By switching to using CSPO, consumers know the oil is produced in a way that aims to protect the last remaining habitat for countless jungle-dwelling creatures.
