Bounce in with family, friends, or someone special to help us celebrate Australia’s very own native ‘Easter Bunny’ – the adorable yet endangered Greater Bilby!

This little marsupial is a symbol of hope for native wildlife, and here at Zoos SA, we’re working hard to protect this bouncing bandicoot from extinction.

Come along to spend the weekend surrounded by wildlife, vote in the Bilby EGG-stravaganza online competition, collect your free bilby chocolate, and get creative with some Easter crafts.

Bilby conservation

Greater Bilby populations have been devastated by predators like feral cats and foxes with less than 10,000 estimated to remain in the wild.

Zoos SA initiated a breeding program in 1994 for Greater Bilbies and have bred more than 200 individuals. These bilbies have remained at Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park to continue the program, or have joined over 90 released back into the wild as part of vital recovery projects.

Help ensure these lovable long-eared marsupials have a bright future by adopting a bilby today, or purchase a delicious Melba’s Chocolate Bilby from the Zoo Shop with part proceeds supporting conversation.
