Poppy’s little Quokka joey has taken his first exploratory hops outside of her pouch making now the perfect time to give him a name. With Quokkas vulnerable to extinction, this male joey will play a vital role in the future of his species.
Keepers are leaving it in the safe paws of the public to come up with names for the joey but to assist with naming here are some key facts:
- It’s a male joey
- He’s roughly six months old
- Quokkas are vulnerable to extinction
- Quokkas are native to south-western Western Australia
- Mum’s name is Poppy
- Dad’s name is Pealoo
- Quokkas are herbivores
- Quokkas are also known as the Short-tailed Scrub wallaby
