These school holidays we invite you to explore animal secrets and surprises – from clever camouflage, dynamic displays and fabulous finery – nature has it all! Visit over December and January for a curiosity quest like no other and celebrate the wild wonders awaiting with Nature’s Blend or Bling.

Wildshow Animal Experience

10:45am at the Variety Children’s Zoo Nature Theatre

Animals have amazing ways to keep their secrets or suddenly surprise us. Join us as we explore how they make the most of their colours, patterns and behaviour to blend or bling in the survival game.

Free Flight Experience

11:30pm at the Central Lawns (weather permitting)

Birds are brilliant at finding ways to use what they have to not just survive, but also thrive! Whether it’s concealing their true identities or revealing their colourful characters, join us as we share their stories and strategies to meet the challenges of a wild life.

SA Water pop-up presentations

Every Monday & Tuesday at 11:50am at the Orientation zone (just inside the main entrance)

There’s no monkeying around when it comes to protecting your water!

Join SA Water’s education team to find out just how much of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, plus learn about how this valuable resource affects animals that blend and bling and the importance of keeping the world’s natural waterways clean.

Short story competition

Create a short story or poem featuring the Blend or Bling characteristics of any of the animals at Adelaide Zoo. You can mention our unique Rhinoceros Iguanas and their grey-brown skin colouring which helps them blend into the stone or the beautiful pattern of our Tiger’s stripes which are so unique to each individual tiger, just like fingerprints are to humans.

Your story or poem needs to be less than 1000 words and contain some of the animals you have seen today at the Adelaide Zoo. Please submit your stories or poems to competitions@zoossa.com.au for your chance to win a special book pack and prize valued at over $200. Terms and conditions apply.
