Meet Bindi. Thats her on the right. Bindi is a Common Wombat. She has been hand-raised and is now a full-time resident at Adelaide Zoo. Her keepers have given her lots of positive reinforcement to accustom her to wearing a harness, so she can take walks around the zoo and meet her young human visitors up-close. Adelaide Zoo is also home to two Southern Hairy Nosed Wombats. Our conservation staff have spent time tracking this species in the Murraylands region, and researching how wombats and farmers can co-exist. Without this work our wild wombat populations will decline. Your gift today will help our vets check the health of our zoo wombats, ensuring their lifespan is longer than their cousins in the wild.
This is Tien. She's the latest Zoos SA success story. You've probably heard her family singing together when you visited Adelaide Zoo. She's a critically endangered white-cheeked gibbon. The wild popuplation of these gibbons is decreasing - which means its essential that some are kept in safe environments like zoos. We've had great success breeding white-cheeked gibbons. Tien was born in April 2014 and she's the third born at the zoo. We want to see a world where white-cheeked gibbons are no longer under threat of extinction. Your gift today can help breed more like her and also help save the species. Please donate by calling the zoo on +61 8 8267 3255 or by completing the form below.
