Research at RZSSA is done by scientists and students in the research department, and by visiting scientists from other institutions. 

The research department operates across both of the Society’s properties, Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo, and at various field sites. Some additional research is done by veterinary staff at Adelaide and Monarto Zoos.
