Services and Facilities

The Adelaide Zoo services and facilities ensure an enjoyable and fulfilling experience whether you are a day visitor, attending Zoo school or attending one of our many and varied after hours functions.

Picnic and Rest Areas - an historic but newly restored undercover rotunda, benches and wide sweeping lawns for picnics and more intimate shady glades are positioned throughout the gardens.

Public Amenities - Public amenities include modern, energy saving toilets, disabled toilets and a babies change room. The newest toilets are located near the rotunda and the Children's Zoo.

Cafe - a fully licensed, heated cafe and outdoor plaza located in the centre of the Zoo where visitors can purchase meals and snacks, and a small food outlet in the Childrens Zoo.

Vending Machines are provided throughout the Zoo for drinks, ice-creams and other light refreshments.

Conference and Function Centre - The Centre is available for hire for conferences, trade shows and formal or casual functions.

Zoo shop offers a range of quality and Adelaide Zoo focused merchandising. Zoo shop has an exciting and relevant range of clothing, gifts, toys and books. Proceeds from sales help to fund the zoo's work.

Eftpos and ATMs - there are electronic banking facilities at entry gates, zoo shop and cafe. An ATM is at the Cafe.

First Aid facilities - the Zoo has a fully stocked first aid room. Senior First Aid officers are always available on the premises.

Disabled Access - the Zoo provides ramps and railings for disability access.

Lockers - Lockers are available at the Front Gate to store items

Guide Dogs - Guide Dogs may enter the front gate and are given a suitable area with shelter and water while their owner visits the Zoo. Guide Dogs are not allowed through the Zoo, as it is a quarantine zone.

Parking at the Zoo

There is parking available all around the Zoo on Frome Road, Plane Tree Drive in Botanic Park, War Memorial Drive and Hackney Road. Most parking is Adelaide City Council metered parking with up to four hours, Hackney Road is roadside parking, Plane Tree Drive is Adelaide Garden metered parking for up to four hours.

Kidz Kabz Pusher hire $10 (includes $5 deposit)
Kidz Kabz are pushers in the shape of brightly coloured cars that parents can use to wheel their small children around.

Wheelchair hire $15 (includes $10 deposit, pre-booking recommended)

Locker hire $2 (maximum 4 hours, located outside the Zoo Shop)
