Adelaide Zoo free walking tours run throughout the day – departing from various locations every half hour between 9.45 am and 3.30 pm. Why not ‘hop on, hop off’ one or more of the half hour sections, and enjoy what the Zoo has to offer.

Boileau Behind the Scenes Tours
Would you like to feel the breath of one of the world's biggest animal predators on your neck, or see first-hand a demonstration of intelligence in one of our closest evolutionary relatives?
Join us for an exciting behind-the-scenes encounter at Adelaide Zoo. This unique opportunity allows you to experience a close and personal look at our animals, zookeepers and off-limit areas.

Keeper for a Day

It’s a full day tour giving you a taste of what a day in the life of a Zoo Keeper is really like! You will meet and work with some of the many zoo animals throughout your day, waking them up in the morning and putting them to bed in the afternoon – you will never be this up close and personal! Other animals you may visit are: Giraffes, Pelicans, Squirrel Monkeys, Tapirs, Tigers, Hippos, Meerkats and many, many more. You will also visit the Animal Health Centre, where you may be lucky enough to view a procedure.
Baboons at Breakfast

Experience
Meet our Baboon family and with their Keeper help hide their breakfast treats. You’ll help release them and can watch their foraging antics. Then its off to give breakfast to the Meerkats, Dwarf Mongoose and Oriental Small-clawed Otters.
Bears at Breakfast

Meet our two Sun bears Akbah and Dewi, and their keeper in their night quarters; learn about their personalities and feed them their breakfast. You’ll also learn about their plight in the wild and then it’s off to give breakfast to the Meerkats, and Oriental Small-clawed Otters.

You’ll never get any closer than this to the world’s ultimate predators. Feed the Lions, meet our Sumatran Tigers and get stalked by our Persian Leopard. Orangutan Encounter

Immerse your self behind the scenes of our newest rainforest habitat. You will come face to face with our wonderful Orang-utans and then whoop it up with our very vocal Siamangs. Help the Keepers prepare their exhibit with food and enrichment for the day. Then release them from their night quarters and you’ll be invited to get a birds eye view of the animals re-entering their habitat from the new roof viewing platform. Orang-utans are critically endangered in the wild and you’ll learn why and how you can help.

Adelaide Zoo has one of the largest Zoo bird collections in Australia; learn and see for yourself how we manage such a wide range of species from tiny finches to perky penguins and cranky cassowaries. You’ll go behind the scenes with Zoo Keepers and meet many of our feathered characters.
